We are not free. We are locked in our own body. We are bound to our own history. We are inevitably part of our past. We carry within ourselves things that are gone. We take that for granted. However, we can still come and go to and fro what is real and what is fantasy. To what extent does this have an influence on us?
INFLUENZA is a performance to be enjoyed as much as browsing an illustrated book, drifting from image to image into a parallel world. Here, echoes of the past come to life – between memory and creation. These echoes are the memories, desires and fears, the evidence of a mysterious, yet familiar universe. Floor Robert moves in between these echoes, and her body traces – real or imaginary – events and situations, hinting at or unraveling stories. She is at times accompanied on stage by characters seemingly stemming from the same stories. It is a journey made within a room, yet one can suddenly find themselves on a meadow, in a forest, or in space. It is a journey helping you see everything which does not exist, but which – in spite, or perhaps because of this – ends up influencing us.
